Gorgeous art work and stunning words, honest and courageous. This whole thing captured my heart.

I've had that sciatica. I've known that terror. It took scads of professionals and many months of the wrong approaches to finally get an accurate diagnosis of SI joint dysfunction, and then I had to find the right PT who had a protocol that worked with my body. It's crazymaking. So glad you moved out of that pain, but what a profound experience with this chosen pain of the tattoo.

Have you read "All's Well," by Mona Awad? My daughter (who was still living at home during the worst of my travails and is a voracious reader) recommended it to me as having a particularly realistic way of describing the effects of pain. And I could also relate to the desperate need to try to please a medical professional who's treating you even though what they're doing doesn't seem to be helping. She did a phenomenal job capturing this.

Just preordered The Dry Season and am looking forward to the May 22nd event!

I’m so sorry that you can relate to that particular experience. Thanks for the rec!

I'm the one who just asked the question about the Enneagram type in the pre-order Zoom event you did today. If I had to hazard a guess for you off the top of my head (and I'm by no means an expert!) I'd wonder if you might be a Five, because of your insatiable quest for knowledge. I am a One :-)

And I am thankfully well past these episodes of pain! Can't wait to read the book.

That tattoo is gorgeous. I’ve been thinking about getting my first tattoo after many years, a middle-aged woman myself.
